About Matt Murphy

Matt Murphy

State Senator Matt Murphy is in his second term as a member of the Illinois General Assembly representing the 27th State Senatorial district which encompasses the northwest suburbs of Chicago.  Matt was elected in 2006 during one of the worst Republican years in history.

Dubbed by many within the Republican Party a “rising star,” Matt has earned a reputation as one of the leading advocates for taxpayers and business in the senate. He is the only senator to author legislation to cut corporate and personal income tax and roll back the Cook County sales tax hike.
